Business System Consultation Center - Our Business System ColumnVol.7 2011.03.01 Takahashi Minoru

An FB page you never update is better off deleted

Thank you for your interest and continued support.
This is Takahashi from the Marketing Plan Research Laboratory.

“I want to utilize various social media platforms for recruitment and sales.”
There must be many company presidents thinking this way.
At networking events and the like, you probably get asked every now and then
at networking events and the like.

While social media isn’t an area where we, as a systems company, can directly assist,
there is one thing I can say.
And that is
"Frequently or regularly (at least once a month),
if you can’t maintain consistent updates—forever, as long as the company exists—
you shouldn’t even bother with it in the first place!”
That’s it.

Have you already created a social media account?
When was the last time you updated it?
If you can’t keep them updated, you should just cancel your social media accounts—especially Facebook.

If you search for your company name on search engines like Yahoo!,
the company’s Facebook page may appear in the search results.
If you click on that search result and follow the link,
is just a blank page with your company logo,
the person who sees it is certainly not going to have a good impression.

Something that could have a negative impact on the company—far from being neutral—
exists on the internet linked to the company name
This is the end result of a neglected corporate social media account.

Either decide from the start not to touch it,
or get off your backside and cancel (deactivate or close) that neglected Facebook account.
I know it’s a hassle, but please muster your last bit of energy and do your best.

That's all, Thank you for reading.
