The pros and cons of having employees handle IT vendor communication

■ To avoid being underestimated by system companies
Salespeople at system companies
carefully observe the IT literacy
closely observe the IT literacy of the companies they’re pitching to.


If a salesperson thinks, “This company isn’t very tech-savvy,”
they’ll assume, “This company probably won’t be able to
　　from other IT vendors,"
This creates a bias in the salesperson’s judgment, leading them to conclude,
and they end up being underestimated,
and they end up being underestimated.


■ Since there’s no need to set up a homepage or website,
when acquiring a custom domain email address,
many company presidents still mistakenly believe

For companies that don’t need a website for business purposes,
can still obtain a custom domain email address

There are plenty of others, but
IT salespeople can tell just by looking at the email address on a business card
can tell just by looking at the email address on a business card
"ISP email addresses" or "free email services"
like those listed above.


■ Use a custom domain
A custom domain is (generally)
a domain that includes the company’s name and is registered by the company itself.


*To put it simply, a domain is
　　the part to the right of the @ symbol in an email address.
　　In the case of abc@yahoo.co.jp, yahoo.co.jp is the domain.


If you have an email address with a custom domain,
I sometimes get asked by IT salespeople,
from IT salespeople.
In that case, just reply, “I have someone who knows the ins and outs handling it,”
and just hint that you have an acquaintance who can help with IT matters (lol)
