Although we often use the term “digitalization” in a single breath, there are various approaches to it.
Here are a few examples.
① Expanding the work environment
⇒ This can also be described as expanding the locations where work can be performed or increasing the number of people using the system.
Supporting remote work and moving to the cloud
② Streamlining internal processes
⇒ This can also be described as reducing wasted time.
Going paperless, digitizing handwritten items, automation, labor-saving measures, centralized management, and systemizing internal confirmation via phone and fax
③ Eliminating "black boxes"
⇒ This is sometimes referred to as “making work accessible to anyone.”
Transparency of operational rules, visualization of business processes, sharing of operational know-how, workflow systems
④ Reducing customer touchpoints
⇒ This helps reduce marginal costs.
Stop using fax and switch to chat or email; implement EDI
⑤ Expand sales channels
⇒ Helps reduce sales staff expenses.
Launch an e-commerce site, create a website, and implement a new EDI system
⑥ Transferring management responsibilities
⇒ This helps reduce internal IT personnel costs.
Migrating servers to the cloud, outsourcing systems
