Business System Consultation Center - Our Business System ColumnVol.46 2014.08.01 Takahashi Minoru

There are reasons why you shouldn't over-visualize data

Thank you for your interest and continued support.
This is Takahashi from the Marketing Plan Research Laboratory.

System engineers possess technical expertise regarding systems,
they are often not well-versed in company management, operations, or the day-to-day workplace.
(This is partly because their areas of expertise vary.)

Therefore, if we let system engineers design the entire system on their own,
they tend to try to build a “mechanism of mutual monitoring”
and create a "system that fosters mutual surveillance."

Such a system
“It’s cold and overly mechanical—employees are human beings too,”
and faces backlash from the front lines, ultimately leading to the failure of its implementation.

To create an optimal system that can be successfully implemented,
we ensure that, when designing the system,
we make a point of incorporating
to ensure the system is designed to be implemented successfully.

The higher the level of management,
・Increased operational burden on the front lines for input/output tasks
・Increased difficulty in retroactive corrections
・Increased emphasis on mutual monitoring
become more pronounced, and the difficulty of implementation increases.

However, if the management level is too low, the value of implementing the system diminishes;
designing the system to strike the "right balance"
is where the CEO, on-site managers, and we get to demonstrate our expertise.

When commissioning us to build a system, we ask that you keep this in mind
and we ask for your input and cooperation.

That's all, Thank you for reading.
